If you have set your tag to require handshakes in your
registry options, you will receive a handshake notification when a domain name is moving onto your tag. You use the
receive operation to respond to these handshake notifications and accept or reject the request to move the domain name onto your tag.
When you use the
receive operation, be aware of the following:
- There are two ways you can use the receive operation:
- If you do not respond to a handshake notification within 5 days, the request will be rejected.
How to accept a handshake:
- Create a new email message to applications@nic.uk
- Use the subject TAG Receive (replace TAG with your tag name in capital letters).
- Use the following template in your email message:
operation: receive
case-id:
accept:
Notes:
- It is mandatory to include values for the 'operation:' and 'case-id:' fields in this template. For more information on template fields, see our field definitions.
- The value for the 'case-id:' field will have been sent to you in the original authorisation email.
- Do not provide a value for the 'accept:' field.
- PGP sign and send the email.
You will receive
confirmation from the Automaton if the operation is successful. In addition, a notification email will be sent to the registrant of the domain name.
You will receive an
error from the Automaton if the operation is unsuccessful. For help identifying and resolving an unsuccessful operation, see our
error messages page.
