This page summarises some of the legal issues related to domain name registration.

Firstly, we have rules which limit which domain names can be registered, whether there are any restictions on the type of registrant (for example, .me.uk is limited to people) and whether there are restrictions how it can be used (for example, .net.uk).

Secondly, when you get a domain name, you enter into a triangle of contracts, one of which is our conditions of registration. This sets out your obligations to us in relation to the domain name, and includes important terms on the rights of others and your rights in relation to data protection.

During the time of the registration, we have obligations to you in relation to your rights under the laws on distance selling. We also have obligations in relation to the law on data protection and privacy.

A summary of all our contracts is also available.
