The .uk Policy Development Process is supported by a Secretariat.  The Head of Secretariat will be responsible for stakeholder engagement. Good participation from key stakeholders is crucial to the successful operation of the process. The Secretariat will ensure that stakeholders who are directly affected by Nominet's policy work understand the importance of being engaged in the process.

The Secretariat supports the operation of the Issue Groups by:

1. Developing outreach and bringing relevant stakeholders into Issue Groups;
2. Helping Issue Group Chairs, and providing support in addressing concerns or difficulties;  and
3. Drafting papers, commissioning research and evidence collection and helping in preparing impact assessments.

The Secretariat is also responsible for preparing the annual review of Issue Groups for the Nominet Board and the review of the Stakeholder Committee.
