We have recently made some significant changes to the .uk policy process
Over the last year the Policy Advisory Body (PAB) has been reviewing its role and function and made recommendations on how the policy development process could evolve to deliver improved policy advice to the Board. We consulted on these proposals during March and April 2010 and received overwhelming support for the proposed process. The PAB ceased to operate following its meeting in May 2010.
Following the consultation the
new .uk policy development process has been launched. The new process has an open approach to developing policy for.uk, that focuses on specific issues. Each issue will be dealt with in specially convened Issue Groups that ensure the right stakeholders are involved in the development of policy that is relevant to them.
The
Issue Groups will be supported by a .uk policy
Stakeholder Committee where members will be chosen to include expertise from across the domain name industry. This committee will help enable the advisory process, and play a key role in an annual .uk Policy Forum.
In addition a
Secretariat will provide administrative support for the new process, help ensure balanced stakeholder engagement is taking place in Issue Groups and prepare an annual review for the Board to assess the progress of Issue Groups.
We look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to ensure the successful development of .uk policy. If you have any questions about the policy process please email
