Following our request for comments from our members and stakeholders we received very positive feedback on our proposals to create a Nominet Foundation. We also received some interesting suggestions for how the money could be used.

As a result, we are now pleased to announce the creation of the Nominet Foundation, a charitable organisation that will fund education, research and development initiatives in the UK Internet industry.

The Foundation will aim to launch in Summer 2008 with a first year donation of £5 million.

The Board has begun the process of setting up the organisation and creating the governance structure for the Foundation. Projects will be invited to seek funding at a later date.
