May 11 2010
Our May systems release went live today. Items included in this release are:
- Launch of the final stage of the reseller data service
- Implementation of previously announced changes to WHOIS output
- Changes to notifications about poor quality registrant data
- Improvements to Online Service usability.
Reseller data service
On 9 March we launched the first phase of our reseller data service. This allows registrars that operate reseller programmes to submit data about their resellers and to link them to domain names. We have now implemented the final stage of this project. This will see reseller data, where supplied, included in the emails that we send to registrants, as well as on WHOIS.
Further information about the
reseller data service, and how the
data will be used is available.
Change to WHOIS output
As previously announced we have made some changes to the data that is output by WHOIS.
As part of our reseller data service, the
WHOIS and
WHOIS2 will output any data that a registrar has supplied concerning a reseller associated to a domain name.
Further details about
WHOIS data are available.
Notifications about poor quality data and dissolved registrant
When we are made aware of poor quality registrant data or that a registrant company is dissolved, we send a notification to the registrar. We have made some changes to these notifications to include the type of data notification and the process being initiated. Notification types and processes are:
- When a registrant is dissolved (Dissolved process)
- When the registrant name is found to be incorrect (Incorrect registrant process)
- When the registrant's address is found to have incorrect data (Poor quality data process)
Further information about poor quality data notifications is available for
EPP and the
automaton.
Online service usability improvements
We are continually reviewing our Online Service web application to make the processes as simple and user-friendly as possible. The first stage of these improvements has now been released. The Registrar Change and Registrant Transfer processes have been re-designed to improve the user experience, making each stage of the process easily understood and simple to complete.
We are reviewing all other processes and information screens in online service and will be consistently applying these design and usability improvements over the coming months.
