[Announcement] - System maintenance - 7 September 2010

At 07:00am (BST) on Tuesday 7 September 2010 we will have a systems outage lasting about 1 hour when we will be deploying a software upgrade. During this time Online Services, EPP and ENUM registration systems will be unavailable. The automaton will not process email requests, but they will be received and queued for processing when it restarts.

All other Nominet systems will continue to work as normal during this period.

We are currently experiencing a problem with our registration systems. Systems affected are:

EPP server: unavailable
Automaton: commands are currently being received and queued

We are working to fix the issue and will publish an update as soon as the problem is identified and resolved.

On Friday 20 August between 07:00am and 08:00am (BST) we will be performing work in preparation for out IPv6 rollout. During this time there will be some brief interruptions of no more than a few seconds to the following services:

Nominet website - www.nominet.org.uk
Nominet Online Services - secure.nominet.org.uk
WHOIS
DAC
EPP
ENUM-EPP

Any existing connections to these services will be reset, so you may need to establish a new connection.

At 10:00am on Tuesday 17 August 2010 we will be performing some hardware upgrades.

We will still be accepting information from registrars as normal, but the changes made will not be reflected in the zone files for a period of 2 hours starting at 10:00. Once the maintenance is complete then we will start processing the backlog of zone file changes, and expect things to return to normal by 13:00.

[Release] - August 2010 - Release notes

Our August systems release is now live. Full documentation is provided in the August release notes.

Our next release is scheduled for 7 September 2010. The advance release notes for September are also available. We will confirm the date of the September release seven days in advance.

At 07:00am on Thursday 15 July 2010 we will be performing some essential maintenance to our infrastructure. Users will be momentarily disconnected from the EPP and DAC servers. If your clients are not setup to automatically reconnect, you may need to establish a new connection manually.

The Automaton also saw problems with it's connection to our database but all updates receieved will of been queued and applied in the correct order following DB failover.
